Animals
PAWS/LA- Although this opportunity is in LA, it is one of the few places that allows children to volunteer to assist animals (with parental consent, participation, and supervision). They have several opportunities such as dog walking, food delivery, fundraising events, and more that can be found on their website below.

Shelter Hope Pet Shop- Located in the Janss mall, this pet shop welcomes donations of fleece beds and blankets that are not difficult for young ones to make from some fabric from a craft store. The directions for these blankets and beds can be found on their website below. This is both a fun craft and a way to help animals.

Dog walking- Your child can even volunteer in your own neighborhood! Especially with smaller children, it is sometimes comforting to be around animals they are familiar with. You can take your child around your neighborhood and volunteer to walk your neighbors dogs. This way the dog gets exercise and your child gets to volunteer. This type of volunteering can work around any schedule, and gives younger children the experience of helping others while also being in a controlled environment.
Adoption Days- Children over 14 years of age are able to volunteer at the Westlake Village PetSmart every Saturday. The volunteering consists of sitting with a dog that is up for adoption. You can contact L.I.F.E Animal Rescue, the organization in charge, with the information below.

Fundraising- While this does not involve direct contact with animals, your kids can come up with creative ways to raise money to donate to your local animal shelter. Kids of all ages can donate the money they make from something like a lemonade stand or a bake sale.
Dog Park Clean-up- You and your child can go to your local dog park and pick up some trash so that the dogs have a nice clean place to play and there can be less worry about dogs eating trash.
Adoption- If you are already looking for an animal addition to your family, consider rescuing an animal. Many pet stores use puppy mills and there are animals in shelters looking for homes. Locations of shelters near you can be found on the link below.
